Activity of Vitebsk Republican Unitary Enterprise of Electric Power Industry “Vitebskenergo” embraces generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electric power and heat energy.
The key objectives of RUE “Vitebskenergo” are reliable, high-quality, safe, cost-effective functioning and innovative development of generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electric power and heat energy, as well as making profit to meet the economic interests of the enterprise and social interests of the employees based on an enterprise development strategy.
The first industrial power plant in the Vitebsk region was built in Vitebsk in 1898 and was intended to power the tramway and illuminate the citycenter.
Development of a large republican power system began in Vitebsk region in 1930, when Belorusskaya State District Power Plant was put into operation. First power lines were built during the same period.
Power plants in Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk and Novopolotsk were built within the years of formation and development of the Vitebsk Power System.
