In 2019, Belarus celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus in the framework of the republican campaign “We Are Citizens of Belarus!”

On March 15, 1994, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus adopted the new Basic Law of the country. As a result of referenda held in 1996 and 2004, amendments and additions were made to the Constitution.

The Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is the Basic Law of the State, which defines and enshrines the social and state system, the legal status of the individual, the procedure for the formation and competence of public authorities, the principles of its relations with society and citizens. The Constitution formulates the principles of separation of powers, political pluralism, and spells out the basic principles of the electoral system.

The Constitution embodied the continuity and experience of the centuries-old historical path of Belarus, marked a new stage in the political and socio-economic development of our country. It is based on the inalienable sovereign right of the Belarusian people to have their own statehood and to be a full-fledged subject of the world community.

The Constitution of the Republic of Belarus guarantees to every citizen the freedoms and rights necessary for creative work, decent life and harmonious comprehensive development of the individual. Compliance with the Constitution, respect for the symbols of the country - the State flag, the State emblem, the National anthem - is a patriotic duty of each of us. By Presidential Decree No. 157 of March 26, 1998, the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus is established as a public holiday.

On the occasion of this significant event, numerous diverse events are held in the country. By this memorable date, a series of scientific conferences has been organized in Belarus.

In March 2019, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus holds a number of thematic exhibitions in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood and the National Library of Belarus.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the country's Basic Law, educational institutions provide for information hours, book exhibitions, quizzes, contests, intellectual games, quests, essay contests, multimedia projects, round tables, discussions with the participation of government and public figures.

Since 2004, on the initiative of the NGO “Belarusian Republican Youth Union”, the annual republican campaign “We Are Citizens of Belarus!”, Dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus, has been held. Representatives of all branches of government, public associations, workers of science and culture, athletes, war and labor veterans in a festive atmosphere hand over students of the Republic of Belarus with passports of the citizens of the Republic of Belarus, a gift edition “I am a citizen of the Republic of Belarus”, and other souvenirs.

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk, the main departments of justice of the regional executive committees, the Minsk city executive committee on the ground will organize March 15, 2019 campaigns for free legal advice to citizens. Residents of Belarus will be able to receive free consultations from specialists of the Ministry of Justice, notaries, lawyers on civil, housing, labor, family, land law and other issues related to the field of justice, the enforcement of court orders and other executive documents.
